JACKSON — What does a nearly 3,000-year-old story about war have to say to us today? Quite a lot, according to acclaimed storyteller Bill Harley, who will bring "An Iliad" to M&D Playhouse in North Conway on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. The performance is part of the 2026 Mount Washington Valley Storytelling Festival. Tickets are $25.

"An Iliad," written by Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare and based on Homer’s "Iliad,"is not a traditional staging of the ancient Greek epic. Instead, it is a contemporary theatrical retelling in which Harley becomes “The Poet,” a storyteller condemned to tell the story of the Trojan War again and again throughout history.
