It requires great restraint not to complain about the weather or bug season.  As for weather, folks are always griping — too hot, not hot enough, too much precipitation or not enough. So, even this year when winter lasted a full six months, and I was still having a wood fire on 40 degree mornings in early June, I held my peace.

But the biting insects in 2019 have been beyond the pale, bolstered in part by the deep snow pack on largely unfrozen ground, and unrelenting days of rain once it melted. For decades I gardened using little or no bug dope, but this year, it is DEET all the way.
