FRYEBURG — Teamwork makes the dream work. Girls' hockey in the Pine Tree State is thriving largely due to cooperative school district teams. Three Fryeburg Academy students — Isabel Brito, Carlin Galligan and Azalea Grant — are members of the Gorham/Fryeburg/Massabesic/Lake Region/Westbrook cooperative girls’ ice hockey team this winter and are having a blast.

The team, coached by longtime Mount Washington Valley coach Dave Grant of Brownfield, is made up primarily of student-athletes from Gorham High School with 12 girls, while Fryeburg has the second-most with three. Galligan leads the Rams in scoring with 24 points (12 goals and 12 assists), while Grant’s daughter Azalea is second on the team with 21 points (six goals and 15 assists).
