FRYEBURG — In his 21st season of coaching boys basketball at Fryeburg Academy, Sedge Saunders saw his second son Oscar complete his Raider playing career with a postseason tournament trip to the Expo in Portland last month. The talented point guard earned a well-deserved appearance as a Class AA/A/B Maine McDonald’s All-Star Game participant for the South team on March 9 at Bangor Auditorium.

While many close-knit athletic teams, of which the 2018-19 boys Fryeburg basketball team was one, consider themselves to be like "family," for the Saunders father/son duo, the family/basketball connection was literal. Coach Sedge and player Oscar shared their thoughts on their dual connections.
