PORTLAND — The Gorham/Fryeburg/Massabesic/Lake Region/Westbrook cooperative girls’ ice hockey team took its fans on an incredible journey this winter, which ended just a little too soon. The Rams were a lucky bounce away from reaching the Class B South Regional Finals, but fell just short, losing to No. 2 seed Biddeford/Thornton/Wells/Sanford 5-4 in double-overtime at the William B. Troubh Ice Arena in Portland on Saturday.
It marked the third overtime game between the two teams this season, and the Tigers managed to come out on top in all three.
