He’s shared the stage with The Boss

Rick Barton, formerly of the Dropkick Murphys, and his bassist son Stephen have what they term a “music addiction.” To support their habit, namely touring with their band Continental, they paint houses. But they’re active on stage this season, stopping at Geno’s to play songs off the album that they made because it was the one they “would like listening to, and it happened to describe [them] perfectly,” Home on the Range. It’s Continental’s fourth recording. The genre is soulful rock 'n' roll. “Soulful” because, as Rick says, "I wear my heart on my sleeve and prefer to sing about what's inside, rather than fast cars and shaking booty.” But the crowd at the Rock Club will be living it up with Continental’s groove, the hard ska of Sonic Libido, and the Yankee southern rock of the Iron City Preachers. | Thu, March 8, 8:30 pm | Geno’s Rock Club, 625 Congress St, Portland | $7-10 | https://www.facebook.com/genosportland
