“What’s corn snow?” my 12-year-old grandson Iver wanted to know. I had been talking to him about the wonders of spring skiing and mentioned “corn snow.” I tried to explain it, but he wanted a picture.

Google searches brought up images of snow with corn kernels on top. Even real “corn snow” pictures didn’t show what it is like. I went outside, grabbed a handful of slushy-like ice, and said, “It looks like this.”
