Stay near home. Get out in nature. There are many nearby walking and hiking trails in all four directions from North Conway. To the west, there are the great ledges, Cathedral and Whitehorse. These are not only tread by climbers, there is a network of attractive trails there as well.

On a warm and sunny Tuesday this week, I did a great 3.3-mile loop there. To get there, I drove out River Road from North Conway, continued north on West Side Road and about a mile and a half from town, bore left on Cathedral Ledge Road. In less than a half mile, I pulled left off the road at a trail sign for the Bryce Path.
