Hiking - View from Mount Passaconaway

Trail conditions in early April are different every year. When I did this hike a few years back on one of the Sandwich Range’s iconic peaks, I encountered a lot of ice, but not much deep snow.

I was looking for a mountain that I hadn’t climbed in a long time and didn’t have a long drive to get to. Mount Passaconaway (4,043 feet) fit the bill. So Wednesday morning, I drove out Route 113 from Tamworth village to Wonalancet and the Ferncroft hiker parking lot. I planned to climb the 4.6-mile Dicey’s Mill Trail directly to the summit.
