Another fishing season has come and gone and, once again, we are eagerly awaiting the start of next year’s. Unlike last year, I managed to get in a lot of quality time this year. Last season, I was in kind of a funk and tied down at the shop. At the beginning of this year, I made a vow that would not happen again.

This year, I started out the season at “the pond,” and as always ended it at the same place. There was a lot of great fishing in between, starting with an epic trip to Newfoundland. I can’t thank Jim and Russ Staples enough for insisting that I go along this year. A couple of early spring trips with Nate Hill turned up some big brown trout on the Saco.
