New Hampshire’s trout fishing season ends for rivers and designated trout ponds on Tuesday, Oct. 15. With only a few days left, let’s take a look at some waters where the trout angler may have some success before putting equipment away of traveling to areas where trout fishing remains open.
For moving waters, the Upper Saco River, Upper Ellis River, the Upper Beebe River are all places where brook trout are gathering for their fall ritual. Start fishing at one of the easy access points with a bright colored streamer and begin to fish the deeper pools. Don’t spend a lot of time at any one pool and keep moving upstream. Brook trout, and brown trout, are continuously moving upstream at this time of year. Covering water quickly will find fish and bring the trout to hand.
