The weekly protests organized by the Wolfeboro-Tuftonboro Democrats at Pickering Corner are a regular and visible exercise of First Amendment rights. However, the specific content of many signs and chants at these events reflects a concerning and toxic debasement of political rhetoric that has been a consistent theme at these gatherings.
Sounds like you feel that the political rhetoric should be toned down. How about speaking out against the rhetoric on both sides? Do you excuse the violence of January 6? The president does, pardoning the violent participants. Did you laugh when a deranged man beat Nancy Pelosi’s husband with a hammer? The president did. Numerous times the president has called for senators that spoke out against his policy’s to be charged with treason and be shot. Did you think that was okay? How about when the Hortmans were shot and killed? Did you speak out against that? Do you remember the presidents words when that senseless act of political violence occured? Probably not, he said nothing, did nothing. Did he say that he doesn’t condone violence? Did he say his thoughts were with their families? Flags at half staff, nope, nothing. Perhaps the party in power can set an example and tone down its own words, perhaps you can speak out against that. No, don’t think that will happen.
