Back when I was a kid mowing lawns during my high school years, the most tedious part of the job was trimming around garden beds, along walls, or around trees after the mowing was done.

The tool for this task looked a lot like Edward Scissorhands appendages and required its operator to crawl along the ground or work hunched over to reach down to the grass beyond where the mower could reach. It added a lot of unpleasant labor to an otherwise simple job.
