North Conway Water Precinct would like to respond to recent letters published in The Sun regarding wastewater treatment, septic systems, development and zoning. We disagree with the assessments presented in those letters.

Protection of drinking water and local control of development are both vitally important issues facing our communities today. However, we disagree with the premise that it’s a zero-sum game where residents must choose between protecting drinking water or opening a Pandora’s box of uncontrollable development. Our communities have many tools to protect drinking water and control development, and it’s important that communities plan proactively for both rather than react impulsively out of fear.
