(StatePoint) El monóxido de carbono (CO) es un gas tóxico e inflamable, imposible de ver, oler o saborear, lo que hace fácil asumir que no existe riesgo cuando el peligro ya podría estar presente. Por ello, ya sea que vaya a salir de vacaciones fuera de casa o que esté planeando unas vacaciones en casa “staycation” este verano, tome precauciones adicionales para protegerse a sí mismo y a sus seres queridos del monóxido de carbono.
Según UL Standards & Engagement, más de un tercio de los hogares en los EE. UU. carecen de detectores de CO, y casi el 30% de la población estadounidense afirma no necesitar o no tener certeza sobre la necesidad de una alarma de CO en el hogar si ya existe una alarma de humo. ¿Cuál es la realidad? Tanto los detectores de humo como los de CO son esenciales para la seguridad.
