OSSIPEE — A female passenger in a Mazda that collided with another car while traveling southbound on Route 16 in Ossipee on Thursday evening was killed and two other women injured in the head-on crash.
On Thursday at approximately 6:46 p.m., the Ossipee Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Windy Fields Farm and Boulder Hill Automotive on Route 16 in Ossipee.
According to police, a black 2007 Mazda with N.H. plates, traveling south, left the roadway, lost control and collided head-on with a white 2022 Toyota Highlander heading north. A woman from Massachusetts was the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota.
The Mazda was occupied by two females. The passenger was later pronounced dead at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. The driver sustained serious injuries and was also transported to Huggins for emergency care.
The driver of the Toyota was transported for serious injuries as well.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirm our commitment to conducting a thorough and respectful investigation,” said Ossipee Police Chief Donald Babbin.
“We would like to thank our local partners for their prompt and professional assistance at the scene, including Center Ossipee Fire Department, Ossipee Corner Fire Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Effingham Police Department, and the New Hampshire State Police,” Chief Babbin said.
Center Ossipee Fire Department responded to the crash as mutual aid to the Ossipee Corner Fire Department. Ossipee has three fire departments and the third is West Ossipee.
At the time of the collision, Center Ossipee Fire members and Chief Dana Cullen Jr. were conducting engine and pump training. Chief Cullen immediately responded with Center Ossipee responders assisting Ossipee Corner with the extrication of the three entrapped victims.
Action Ambulance units and an ambulance from Wakefield Fire Department also responded.
