CONWAY — Town Planner Jamel Torres’ recent resignation is having immediate impacts on town work flow, as the planning board recently cut its number of meetings per month. Members of the planning board and selectmen were polled at their respective meetings about the impact of Torres’ departure as well as the town’s policies regarding parental leave and working at home.

Torres — who with wife Martine Grenier-Butts bought a home last year in Kezar Falls, Maine, which is a 30-minute commute from Conway — and Martine welcomed daughter Esme on May 18, the day after he started parental leave.

Having served town government for over two decades, I witnessed many times how fellow workers were treated if not originally from town. Behind the scenes is where the policies are formed. This reeks of it and echoed what my Town is going through!
