CONWAY — September was the fifth consecutive month this year featuring wetter than normal conditions, according to Brian Fitzgerald, director of education for the Mount Washington Observatory.

The monthly total of 4.75 inches was 1.08 inches above the 30-year average for Septembers in North Conway. Rainfall was frequent, with 14 days out of the month recording observable precipitation. A coastal low-pressure system brought the highest 24-hour total on Sept. 18-19, at 2.61 inches of rainfall.
