PORTER, Maine — Residents fed up with crime in their community held a meeting Wednesday at the Porter Town Office with law enforcement officials from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police and asked them do something about it.

About 60 residents attended and topics included starting a neighborhood watch program, and whether they could shoot and kill criminals who have been breaking into their homes. Other issues included peeping Toms, unattended fires, and baggies of deadly drugs and needles being left around town.
