OSSIPEE — When work on a bridge on New Hampshire Route 16 closes a section of the highway for several days starting Friday, the state Department of Transportation is recommending a detour to help those going to the Fryeburg Fair, which starts Sunday.

Route 16 will be closed to traffic between Newman Drew Road and Nichols Road to allow for the replacement of the Bearcamp River Relief bridge in Ossipee. The bridge will close Friday evening and is expected to reopen by next Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 6 a.m.
