NASHUA — As people across the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean begin to recover from two powerful hurricanes, local Red Cross chapters and Eversource utility company are sending volunteer crews from New Hampshire and surrounding states to help with relief efforts.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas, on Aug. 25 as a Category 4 hurricane. A little over two weeks later, Irma hit the mainland of Florida, also as a Category 4 storm. Power has been knocked out there to close to 4 million customers.
