CONWAY — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has halted its Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for the newly consolidated Lakeside (K-2) and Mountainside (grade 3-5) schools due to a lack of previous year’s data.
Principals Sara Lewis of Lakeside Primary and Danielle Nutting of Mountainside Intermediate informed families of the discontinuation via email this week. “Unfortunately, our fresh fruit and vegetables program will be discontinued indefinitely due to our district being newly ineligible for the program after the consolidation,” Lewis wrote. “Our hope is to find other local funding to continue the program the rest of the year, but it will take some time before we will find out if that is possible.”
