Conway School Board — Michelle Capozzoli

Conway School Board member Michelle Capozoli wondered how the policy committee decided on 10 students as the baseline for low enrollment courses. “Why 10, it’s still arbitrary, what is its basis,” she asked. “If you think about a classroom and think about group work or anything like that, you at least want three threes. Ten is kind of an odd number. Again, what is the rationale?” (LLOYD JONES PHOTO)

CONWAY — How many students must be enrolled for a course to be taught at Kennett High School? The Conway School Board is trying to come up with a magic number, but it's proving difficult.

Last fall, the board granted Principal Neal Moylan's request for 19 low-enrollment courses: Algebra Tutorial, 11 students; AP Calculus AB, 10; AP English Literature, 10; AP European History, 10; Calculus, 11; Dance Techniques I, nine; Geometry Concepts, 10; and Instructional Music Workshop, 10.
