The fifth annual Celebrate Life Walk for Cancer is dedicated to the memory of Philip W. Marks takes place on June 10 at Club Motorsports on Route 25 in Tamworth. The walk begins at 9 a.m., not 10 a.m. as I incorrectly stated in last week’s column and will be led by Bonnie Ames. The distance is 2.5 scenic miles. Lunch is available after the event for walkers with donations. Sign up starts at 8 a.m. For more information, go to clcsn.org.
On Wednesday, June 13, at 7 p.m. at Cook Memorial Library writer and artist Suzi Banks Baum will share images and stories of her recent residency with women artists in Gyumri, Armenia. In this colorful presentation, Suzi Banks Baum will discuss the power of art affecting social change and the influence of cultural diplomacy. In a culture that silences women, which neither values their work, nor sees their stories as essential, Banks Baum is reconnecting Armenian women artists with indigenous practices of hand bound books.
