Kimberly Alexandra Mehaffey passed away in the early morning hours of April 27, 2020, with her husband, soul mate and lifelong partner, Judson Howe, holding her hand, telling her how well loved she is. The greatest joys of her life — her children, Elijah and Amanda — were nearby, but unable to be in the hospital room due to the COVID-19 rules. She was 58.

While she may not have been taken by the virus, she was a victim of this pandemic in that she delayed medical care because of it, and once she did seek care, telemedicine failed to diagnose the seriousness of her condition until it was too late.
