Many of us are instructed as children to do "the very best we possibly can" and many of us strive to do this throughout our lives. But how many can say they have done one thing exceptionally well, consistently, for 37 years and not only never missed the mark, but continued to get even better? Larry Baima, the late Drew Hanfield and Leslie Fletcher have somehow managed to do this at The Thompson House Eatery. I am not alone in feeling that, without exaggeration, The Thompson House Eatery has been "the best eating experience in the whole world" — what an accomplishment. While devastated by the loss of this culinary icon, we all celebrate the next phase of Larry and Leslie's lives, and feel extremely fortunate to have had been part of their extraordinary legacy. They have not only served us delicious, healthy and beautiful meals, they have nourished our entire community by their presence and hard work. We all wish them the best that life and health can offer, and (after a long-overdue and well-deserved rest), look forward to what new adventures they will now have the time and opportunity to share together. From the bottom of our hearts (and tummies), Thank You, Larry and Leslie. Well done!

The Jackson Women's Sewing Club would like to remind everyone of their upcoming annual Tea for Tuition at the Jackson Grammar School on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit Jackson students on their way to college. They are in need of items and are still accepting "treasures" for their White Elephant Sale, which can be dropped off at the Whitney Center on Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stay tuned for more detailed information about this wonderful annual event in next week's column.
