CONWAY — Starting Point invites the community to a candlelight vigil on Friday at 6 p.m. in Schouler Park, North Conway, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
While crisis agencies and law enforcement play critical roles in stopping domestic violence, friends, family members, neighbors, teachers and coworkers are often the first line of defense. And communities can interrupt violence long before it escalates. One way to do that is to support survivors publicly by such actions as attending vigils, sharing awareness posts, wearing purple in October and speaking openly about the issue.
