MANCHESTER — Stemming from a review in 2017, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Manchester VA Medical Center announces it is poised to take the next steps to operationalize an Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Development of an ASC was one of the VA New England VISN 2025 Task Force eecommendations approved by the department to address the emerging needs of Granite State Veterans.
Putting the last pieces in place to support the development of an ASC, Manchester VA Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Zwolak, chief of surgical services.
Dr. Robert Zwolak is a board-certified vascular surgeon who obtained his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees at the Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. He completed general surgery residency at the University of Michigan and the prestigious vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Washington.
“The appointment of Dr. Zwolak is a win for Granite State Veterans,” said Alfred Montoya, Jr., medical center director, Manchester VA Medical Center. “Dr. Zwolak joins a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team developed to shape our center. The team truly includes some of Manchester VA’s brightest stars.”
Dr. Zwolak will work alongside Timothy Wheaton, RN assistant nurse manager, Sara Roberts, RN, nurse manager, and Devon York, health systems specialist all who are currently working within Manchester VA’s Same Day Surgery and Specialty Care Service. The ASC will ultimately provide basic and advanced surgical procedures including cataract surgery.
“Being selected to be a part of a dynamic team designed to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our nation’s heroes is an honor,” said Zwolak. “A state-of-the-art center will enhance the Veteran experience for our heroes who deserve nothing but the best.”
