Think new car prices are higher than they’ve ever been? You’re right.

The average price of a new vehicle sold in the U.S. today is $47,612 — almost $50 grand! That’s a jump of almost $10k in the last 5 years. How did we get here? It’s complicated and involves pandemic-related supply line disruptions, constant demand by the Feds for mandated safety features, and plain old greed by manufacturers who make more money on tech-laden trucks and SUVs than on economy cars.
