Every parent’s challenge: How can I get my child to read more when there are so many distractions on the Internet?

Steve Gagne, principal of Crooked River Elementary School in Casco, will offer guidance on helping children enjoy reading. Mr. G, as he is better known, is passionate about the importance of reading and has translated this passion into action through a Rotary District grant that will provide $5,000 in new books for his school. Children select books to read with Rotary volunteers and then take them home to enjoy at their leisure. Some books are available in the school library, and others circulate via a mobile book cart that visits each classroom on Fridays to encourage weekend reading.
