EP w9 ye olden times tannery

Howdy neighbor!

Today, I wanted to reflect on an old industry near and dear to my own heart; the bygone art of leather tanning, which in olden days stood among the chief industrial pursuits of small New England towns like ours. Since the dawn of recorded history, leather has played an integral role in the development of civilization. We’ve worn it, walked on it, written on it, even eaten it in times of famine. Right now, as I write this, at least three parts of my clothing are made out of leather, and I’d bet that all of you at home have something made of leather within easy reach.
