EP farmers' almanac

Howdy neighbor!

Sad news this week, sad news for the way of the world here in rural New England! This past week, after over 200 years of faithful prognostication, the Maine Farmers’ Almanac has cast its own horoscope, and read ill-fortune in its stars. Yes, indeed dear readers, since 1818 the Maine Farmers’ Almanac has diligently given sage advice, wit and country wisdom each and every year, from its original publication under famed Philomath Daniel Robinson at Hallowell, its honored stint in the hands of the Charles E. Nash at Augusta, to its home of over a century now under the stewardship of the revered Geiger family of Lewiston. Out of all its fellows down the long line of American almanacs issued since the days of our Glorious Revolution, Maine’s has outlasted them all, with only the Old Farmer’s Almanac of Dublin, N.H. as its elder.
