GORHAM — Local residents heard several suggestions for how to put to use the lands that have long been used as lagoons by a paper mill, as the mill owners investigate a new option for treating the mill's wastewater.

Athletic fields and a recreation center or building with an indoor pool.

this sounds like corruption absolutely... as I was informed by the town that the land once a wonderful ball field and park for the residents was made into lagoons via a shoddy deal with the town where the mill leases this parcel for a 1.00 fee per year... terms we all would die for surely.... I appreciate what the students offer and this should be between the town and residents not the mill as overlord by a member like any other tax payer... we know how unfriendly they are kicking me out of their underused parking lot where I was teaching my son to bike ride... next day barriers were up... if they stop the lagoons their lease is terminated and I would suggest legal action if this continues under the current plan. I would like to know further how the town lost input control over property they own and leased under questionable circumstances... I know corruption when I see it and this has an odor I'm certain the current town would like to fix... I will be focusing on this as a neighbor was never notified of the plans even when I called the town and asked what was going on when no parking signs appeared... guess this was a oversight and I will be voicing concerns all the way up the government ladder and hope the residents understand why we must unite against it to have some say as to what ends up happening in the neighborhood... the original mill owners never kept any promises as the small playground is a example of it .. having been in real estate on a large scale and a resident I welcome any support and suggestions for the town and residents to have a fair chance to have this property returned to town control for a joint residential initiative the current town leadership should be aware of the lease details and expect this shared with the residents or perhaps a media campaign and court action is required to get the fair play when we expect a fight or withholding information as was my experience... the omission of details is not something I appreciated and will not have it happen again...
