BERLIN — The Berlin Mountaineers Unified basketball team split a pair of games last week, dropping a hard-fought home contest to Dover before bouncing back with a road win at Bedford in a stretch that highlighted the team’s growth, and the true spirit of Unified play.

Berlin opened the week at home on Tuesday, Jan. 6, falling 47-36 to Dover Unified in a matchup that stayed close through much of the night. The Mountaineers led 16-12 after the first quarter but were outscored in each of the final three periods as Dover used its size, athleticism and outside shooting to pull away. Dover finished with five 3-pointers and was led by Malachi Breen-Mitchel with 26 points, while Joshua Morin added 15. For Berlin, Ryder Thomas scored eight points, Terence Arsenault added 10, Kurt Maslausky finished with six and Ethan Peters chipped in four. Logan Bowley, Lilly Krans and Rylin Ramirez rounded out the scoring for Dover.
