CONWAY — What a difference a year makes. The 34th annual White Mountain Milers Half Marathon will be remembered as one of the warmest ever run. The race, which was moved up a month on the calendar after snow, sleet, wind and rain in late October last year, prompted race officials to move the event to the third weekend in September.
Douglas Mercer, 32, of Laconia, found the conditions to his liking as he ran away from the field, winning Saturday’s race by more than 6 minutes in 1:23:30. He averaged a 6:23 per mile pace.
