To the editor:

I have a day-by-day nature calendar with an often stunning six-inch photograph of some aspect of the natural world. A recent entry had a wonderful picture of long-horned sheep backed by a snow-enveloped crag in Glacier National Park in Montana. I remember seeing them there many years ago when there was permanent snow in the park rather than just in the winter. Now the sheep are on the Endangered Species List and the glaciers are just about gone in Glacier National Park. This is happening everywhere, worldwide. All of the natural world is in peril.
