While I was clicking through TV channels searching for a Stanley Cup Playoff game, I suddenly realized what is responsible for the "Barack Obama phenomenon". He is less of a politician than he is a celebrity—and we live in a celebrity-obsessed age, especially young people. Do we ever! American Idol, Britney Spears, Angelina and Brad, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, etc. (I note that I know about these people only from magazine covers in the supermarket checkout ...
