To the editor:

A critic of my recent letters to the editor in this publication concerning undocumented immigrants (published Jan. 18 and Nov. 28), has challenged the statements contained in them by impugning my integrity. I am not complaining. I wanted to initiate a public dialogue on this most pressing and controversial subject, so I guess I got what I asked for. However, I was hoping that someone would respond with less fabrication and invective, or perhaps even a desire to seek a resolution. Instead, my critic, without engaging in the slightest fact checking, something easily done by anyone with a sixth-grade education and a search engine, or a trip to the library, prefers to doubt how anyone can know what the social and economic impact of “undocumented immigrants” are since, as he asserts, they are “undocumented” and presumably underground.
