Do you have something important to do? Change the cat’s litter box? Watch Desperate Housewives? Flush some ladybugs? If so, feel free to skip this column. It is but a random collection of thoughts - not the brilliant analysis you have come to expect in this space. It is also an opportunity to see into your humble scribe’s mind on a variety of irrelevant topics.

If you start a sentence with “irregardless”, I will place no value on whatever follows. “Irregardless” is not a word – please save a syllable and just say regardless. And “between you and I” is just wrong, not wise. “Between you and me” will suffice nicely. Something else that is wrong is not making Daylight Savings Time a year-round thing. The Bush energy “plan” is filled with billions of dollars of give-aways to the already spectacularly profitable energy companies, but buried within it is an expansion of DST to eight months, thereby bringing us sunshine later in our afternoons and significant electricity savings. Is year-round DST just too simple and effective to become law?
