To the editor:

When I heard of the vandalism of the signs on Mount Jasper it immediately brought tears to my eyes. My father, Michael Eastman did the artwork of those signs and spent hundreds of hours creating the illustrations. Not only are they beautiful works of art by one of our area's Award Winning Artists, but they also are historical and cultural representations of the American Indians that inhabited this area and continue to reside here. More specifically the signs provide historical accuracy about the Abenaki people as well as preservation of the Abenaki language.
