SHELBURNE --- The state rest area on U.S. Route 2 in Shelburne is targeted for closing in Governor John Lynch’s proposed state budget. Also closed would be the facilities in Colebrook and Littleton, leaving the entire region north of the notches without a state rest area.

“Here we are trying to build up tourism in this area and they’re cutting the rug out from under us,” said Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce President Robbie Munce.
