SARGENT'S PURCHASE—The per-kilowatt electric rates at the summit of Mount Washington have been a source of controversy since 2009 when the state Department of Resources and Economic Development raised the rate per kWh from 55 cents to 71 cents per kWh.
In that year DRED and the Mount Washington Commission engaged the pro bono services of Harold Judd, president of the Accion Group of Concord, to "review the existing fee structure employed by DRED for the delivery of electricity to facilities at the summit of Mount Washington."
