ANDROSCOGGIN VALLEY — Member communities in the Androscoggin Valley Regional Refuse Disposal District will see a drop in the fee they pay to dispose of solid waste at the district’s Mount Carberry landfill.

For years the tipping fee has been $67 a ton in large part because of a clause in the agreement when they purchased the landfill from Fraser Papers. The clause did not allow the tipping fee for members to be decreased if the mill fee was increased. That clause has expired and the district board voted to reduce the tipping fee to $60 a ton for member communities starting in 2020. There is no change in commercial tipping fees.
