Speaking to a small crowd at the Northland Restaurant in Berlin, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said it is time to end “government of, by, and for the rich and powerful.” The combat veteran said the United States has spent over $6 trillion on what she called “regime change wars” and said the results have been counterproductive. Gabbard said she would change this country’s foreign policy so it bends away from war and towards peace. The money, she said, should be spent on nation building at home. The candidate’s eyes teared up when two people spoke about the impact Alzheimer’s disease has had on their families. Gabbard revealed her grandfather has the disease and said this country must devote more resources to research and treatment.
