CONCORD — Hikers, ice climbers, skiers, snowshoers, snowmobilers and other backcountry visitors are cautioned not to leave their vehicles on the side of state-maintained highways.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation encourages winter visitors to enjoy New Hampshire’s beauty and diverse recreational opportunities in a safe and respectful manner. Visitors are reminded that weather and roadway conditions can differ significantly from their home or as they travel across the state, so planning ahead is critical.
