NORTH CONWAY — It was standing-room only in the Weather Discovery Center meeting room on Friday, April 12, when two Mount Washington Observatory staff scientists — Director of Research Dr. Eric Kelsey and Research Specialist Observer Taylor Regan — told the dramatic story of the record-setting 231 mph wind verified 85 years ago in the wood chained-down Mount Washington Stage office on the rocky summit.

Kelsey, who took the lead in delivering the celebratory remarks, holds a joint position at the obseratory and Plymouth State University’s Meteorology program.
