Two candidates are running for the District 1 state senator seat, which covers all of Coos County and parts of northern Grafton County. Incumbent Jeff Woodburn (D-Whitefield) is seeking a fourth term.  He faces a challenge from David Starr (R) of Franconia. The general election is next Tuesday, Nov. 6.
