Friction arises between Gorham selectmen and commissioners

GORHAM — It appeared as though smooth sailing at last would be ahead for the necessary — if costly — snow storage project now underway at the department of public works yard-transfer station, but a “communications problem” between two elected boards has resulted in friction.

The selectmen invited members of the town’s Water and Sewer Commission — Lee Carroll, Roger Goulet and Ted Miller — and Supervisor Jeff Tennis to its Monday, Sept. 23, meeting to let them know of the dismay they all felt when they learned that the commission had hired its own engineering firm, Underwood Engineers, Inc. of Concord and Portsmouth, to check out the town’s plans.
