BERLIN — Property owners in the unincorporated place of Success appear unsuccessful in their latest effort to get a tipping fee and a payment-in-lieu-of taxes for the Mount Carberry landfill.

For six years, the property owners have argued their request for a PILOT and host fee is an issue of fairness and the disparity between a multi-million-dollar landfill and property owners. The Mount Carberry landfill is owned by the Androscoggin Valley Regional Refuse Disposal District and located in Success. Many of the property owners are seasonal camp owners.
