BERLIN – The city council Monday night approved the sale of the former Bartlett School at 56 Mt. Forist Street to New England Family Housing/TKB Properties for $1. The sale is conditional on the company obtaining a $500,000 federal Community Development Block Grant to help finance the renovation of the building into apartments. The project must be substantially completed within two years of the sale closing. In addition, the property will be subdivided and the city will retain the lower field.

NEFH/TKP Properties was the only company to respond to a request for proposals for the building issued by the city in October. The firm has a strong track record of rehabilitating and managing multi-family apartment buildings in the city through its work on the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
